Bella
Vista Opening Fishing Report (January 22nd to 27th 2012)
Another week has ended at Bella Vista Fishing Lodge. We had the pleasure
to host again so very experienced fishermen. The first group, who are actually
staying another week, are all very good friends from Scotland, who have been to
Nervous Waters lodges several times with this there third time at Bella Vista. The
rest of the group who came to Bella Vista have been to Kau Tapen two times
before and this was their first time here. So in total a very experienced bunch
of people who know exactly how to cast to those beautiful sea trout.
Fishing is still slow and very hard. It seems that our sea trout had
become quite surly! The warm temperature, particularly in the water, is making
it very hard for the fish to take, but thanks to our not giving up fisherman we
are still landing some of them. The biggest this last week was a very fresh
female of 17lb! We also have landed lots of brownies between 2 and 4 pounds,
this is keeping us very much excited that soon the really big sea run brown
trout will arrive!
Honestly we are trying everything and anything to catch the big ones,
but mainly we found that full floating lines or floating with intermediate or
very slow sinking tips worked the best. Flies
wise, small nymphs and medium size leeches for the evening seemed to be the
most effective.
