The beginning of September welcomes the first signs of spring to these latitudes. The days begin to grow longer each day. Although it is too early for the bloom, you can feel in your bones that the Ibera Marshlands have come back to life.
This environment is being rejuvenated, with the awakening of birds flying everywhere and filling the air with their songs. The cute capybaras present the new members of their families, demonstrating that they didn’t waste time during the winter. Caymans will leave the water to take long hours of sunbathing. The colors of the marsh begin to change to green, with endless purple carpets of water hyacinths covering the channels and lagoons.
It is at this time, the underwater life wakes up with schools of minnows running away from their main predator, the Dorado. After having been dormant during the last months, these guys are hungry and not in a good mood, just like some people in the morning…
The spring break for Dorados is coming, and big schools will be cruising the channels and rivers in search of nourishment, and of course doing their “spawning show”. A lot of action is going to take part over the next few months at Ibera marshes. Fish last season were between 3,5 and 4 pounds, this season will be averaging 6 or 7 pounds.
If you have not yet booked your spot, you should do it now, or you will miss all the action!
