Pirá Lodge: End of Season Report 2024-25 Report

The Best Season in Our History. A Dorado Story Like No Other.

Some fishing seasons are memorable. Others are good. But once in a lifetime, there comes a season that rewrites the rules—where nature, timing, and a fishery at its peak align to deliver something truly extraordinary. That’s exactly what happened in 2025 at Pirá Lodge, where we landed an astonishing 17,530 golden dorado—a new all-time record for our lodge, and one of the most productive dorado seasons ever recorded anywhere in the world.

As the season progressed, new waves of dorado continued to arrive from the Paraná via the Corriente River. They never stopped. The marsh stayed alive from beginning to end, with an energy we’ve never seen before.

From the very first week, we knew something special was unfolding. We started earlier than usual and were greeted by ideal water levels and a system already brimming with fish. In those early days, we accessed remote lagoons deep in the marsh, where guests like Francois B. landed monster fish—including a 20-lb dorado that set the tone for what was to come.

But this season wasn’t just about quantity. Our guests connected with countless trophy fish—Tony D. with a 19-lber, Rich S. with a 17-lber, and Ginny G., who caught an unbelievable 54 dorado in a single day on a 5wt rod using mouse patterns. We even had a single-day camp record of 260 dorado landed across just four boats. That kind of action doesn’t just make a good day—it becomes part of fishing lore.

And through it all, the Iberá Marshlands provided the perfect stage. Capybaras eased through the reeds, caimans basked in the sun, marsh deer and colorful birds dotted the horizon. Every ride felt like a safari, every cast a new possibility.

To our returning guests, first-time visitors, and the incredible Pirá team—thank you for making this historic season unforgettable. You were part of something truly unique, a reminder of why this place matters, why we protect it, and why we’ll always keep coming back.
