About Christiaan

Growing up in South Africa, Christiaan was introduced to fly fishing by his father – a gift that would shape the course of his life. By the age of 14, he was already representing his country on the competitive circuit and went on to compete at 7 World Fly Fishing Championships across Portugal, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Norway, Italy, the United States, and Russia.

From the arena of competition, Christiaan took his skills to some of the world’s most wild and demanding waters. He guided full-time on the mighty Zambezi River chasing Tigerfish, spent four years guiding across the outer atolls of the Seychelles, managed a lodge in the Bahamas for three years, and dedicated four more to guiding in the remote wilderness of Kamchatka.

That depth of experience across 39 countries eventually led Christiaan to launch his own company, hosting bespoke fly fishing expeditions for groups globally – chasing anything and everything that presents an opportunity. Previously a travel ambassador for The Fly Shop, he now brings that same expertise and passion directly to his clients, curating extraordinary journeys to the world’s finest fisheries.
