Impressive population of game fish are back in upper Paraná: Suindá Lodge

In the wake of several dry years from 2019 to 2022, the tide has finally turned in 2023. Thanks to ample rainfall and plentiful water flow from Brazil, fishing activity has seen a significant resurgence. As these days ushers in normal to high water levels, we are witnessing an impressive population of game fish in our beloved fishing spots.

Indeed, the minnows and sábalo have returned in droves, transforming our waters into a veritable fishing paradise. Game fish, too, are faring well, with small to medium-sized pirá pitás and pacúes ranging from 4 to 10 pounds becoming a common sight.

Our waters are also teeming with schools of small to medium sized dorados, creating an exciting environment for the upcoming seasons. The new record for the biggest dorado landed on fly this season is now a whopping 32 pounds, courtesy of our Pira Lodge head guide José Caparros. Our guest Sergey was not far behind, landing a stunning 29-pound dorado on lure.

Grand Slams are now a regular feature, with Clayton and Cathy landing noteworthy catches using fiberglass rods!

We want to thank all of our clients that came this season to Suindá Lodge. We are also anticipating a great 2024/25 and already beginning with preparations for the next season.
