Pirá Lodge: End of Season Report 2024-25

We kicked off the 2024-25 season a bit earlier than usual—and it paid off in a big way. Ideal water conditions greeted us from the start, and the system was loaded with dorado from top to bottom. In the upper beats, we were able to access remote lagoons, where anglers like Francois B. landed a remarkable 20-lbs dorado—just one of many standout moments this year.

As the season progressed, waves of fresh fish continued to push in through the Corriente River. That steady influx of dorado meant the fishery stayed hot from the first week through the last, offering consistent action and a wide range of productive techniques. Whether it was swinging flies on sinking lines in the main river or casting mouse patterns, foam cicadas, and gurglers in the marsh, the takes came fast and often. The visual eats on topwater were unforgettable—fish charging the fly, heads breaking the surface, and crushing strikes right at the boat.

This was the most productive season in terms of amount of fish landed we’ve ever had at Pirá Lodge. Over just a few short months, our guests enjoyed action-packed days on the water, with impressive numbers of dorado landed. The average size remained solid, with the biggest fish of the season including a 20-lbs by Francois B., a 19-lbs by Tony D., and a 17-lbs by Rich S.

Beyond the fishing, the Iberá Marshland reminded us daily why it’s one of the most special ecosystems in the world. Capybaras, caimans, marsh deer, and an incredible variety of birdlife made every journey through the channels feel like a safari.

This season flew by in the blink of an eye, filled with great memories, familiar faces, and new friends already planning their return. We can’t wait to do it all again next year.
